In April 2008, South Manganese took charge of two projects——“the Research & Development of High-performance Mercury-free Alkaline Battery Grade Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide” and “the Research & Development of Thermal-energy-recycling-type Micro-wave Roasting Reduction Technology on Manganese Oxide”, both of which had been through examination and approval by the Ministry of Science and Technology and included in the National “863” Program. In 2008, Guangxi Provincial Department assigned South Manganese to be “Guangxi Research Center of Manganese Engineering Technology” and the first batch of Guangxi-Autonomous-Region-Level Industrial Base—the only construction unit of Manganese Industrial Base in Guangxi. In 2009, Guangxi Autonomous Region approved that South Manganese established “Guangxi Talent Upland” and meanwhile the company won the title of “National Advanced Group of Steel Industry”.
